The RNLI is urging people to stay safe over the coming days as severe weather hits the south west. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain on Friday and strong winds on Friday and Saturday. This means conditions around the coastline will be challenging with associated tidal surges, large surf and strong rip currents.
If you’re heading to the coast please visit a lifeguarded beach and seek the advice of the lifeguards on duty who will be assessing the conditions and advising on safety. It’s very likely that swimming, bodyboarding or surfing will not be safe during this time. Anglers, walkers and those taking photographs are reminded to keep a safe distance from the water. As always, if you see someone in difficulty, please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
Please take extra care during this time and #respectthewater. For further advice see www.rnli.org
